Tim says: Without wanting to sound like an old fart (even if I am one) when I started carp fishing 40-odd years ago there was no such thing as a bivvy. All I had was an umbrella, which was not even big enough to get a bedchair under. When it rained, you got wet. I still fish under a brolly-type shelter because it allows me to stay mobile. One of the issues that I have had with this type of shelter is that when it rains you can still get wet. The JRC Stealth Mk2 System is a cross between a brolly and a bivvy. What first attracted me was that the two front ribs have been extended, giving you more protection. There are, however, a host of other features that make this a very impressive shelter. It comes supplied with four storm poles - two 24in and two 48in. When combined with the superb Hydratex material, this makes the brolly extremely stable. It has a thick PVC groundsheet and there are two back ventilation vents for when it is hot in summer. Two zip-out panels are supplied; one mozzie with a door and a full front with three door options and side vents. There is a rain gutter around the front edge to prevent dripping and a full peg set is also included. Ultimately, the JRC Stealth Brolly MK2 offers all-round protection but with the convenience of a mobile brolly.

I have been using this brolly system for three months and I have been really impressed. It is light, easy to erect and fits inside my quiver. It is a great stripped-out shelter for day sessions and overnighters but you can attach a front if you want something a little more substantial for longer trips. The Stealth is supplied with four heavy-duty storm poles, which ensure that it stays stable if the weather takes a turn for the worse. My favourite feature on this brolly has to be the large peak that ensures that you, and the contents of your bivvy, stay dry in heavy rain. Unlike most brollies, the Stealth features rear vents that can be opened, allowing air to circulate. This will make fishing during the warmer months more comfortable. If you want a light brolly that can be turned into an all-singing, all-dancing shelter then the Stealth is worth a look.
