I have to say this rod is a great piece of kit for any intrepid travelling angler, especially when it can fit into almost any rucksack. It casts well although be it a little soft and being so lite you can fish with it all day with absolutely no wrist strain. A pleasure to play a fish with and show off to your mates. The quality of shimano stands out from the moment you open the bag.
BEWARE THOUGH!! I recommend using only lighter lures, although rated for 10-30gr it does not like the heavier end of the spectrum and in two cases my rod has literally snapped mid cast in 3 places. 1st outing less than 6 casts and it snapped fishing a 28gr toby. Nearly 10 months on and the replacement was doing very well then the same thing happened again. I feel Shimano need to re-evaluate the rating on this rod. Or perhaps use stronger materials.
Tackleuk have been very prompt in all areas of contact and warranty claims with regard to this seemingly fairly common defect and although this will now be my third rod I will continue to use it for travel fishing as its ideal, perhaps I have been unlucky.
Well done Tackleuk exceptional customer service, recommendable.
