Description
- This is an awesome, strong all-round pattern that’s suitable for most styles of angling, right from waggler fishing, through to heavy pole work and specialist feeder fishing. It’s a more conventional pattern than the QM1 and features a super-wide gape that helps you to connect with as many bites as possible. The beaked shape will help convert solid hook holds into fish in the net. A large eye allows you to thread heavier hook link lines through three times when tying the knotless knot for the most cutting-edge hair-rig presentations. As with the QM1, the MWG is available in sizes 10,12, 14, 16, 18 and 20 and are supplied in packs of 10.

The Guru range of tackle has certainly caused a stir since it was released a few months ago
The whole range has been purpose designed from scratch to provide a complete, new set of products that havent been copied from other companies. One of the most talked-about products is the QM1 hook pattern. QM stands for Question Mark, simply due to the shape of the hook. They look a little strange in fact, nothing like weve ever seen before in a coarse fishing hook. Were told the design is similar to, but not exactly the same as, the circle hooks used in other disciplines of our sport. The circle shape is so reliable because once its in it stays in, and during testing we can say weve not experienced any fish losses.
A circle hook works when in conjunction with a self-hooking set-up, namely legering. This is because of the way the hook rolls into the fishs mouth and penetrates the flesh. If you aggressively pull the hook (strike) then the point wont get a good hold and is more often that not going to pull out. But, for bolt-rig-style set-ups we have experienced excellent results. To increase the QM1s performance a PTFE coating and a beaked, offset point is used.
A second pattern has been released and is called MWG (Match Wide Gape). This pattern is a fairly ordinary shape compared to the QM1 and has a typical wide-gape, beaked-point design that were used to. This hook has many more uses as it can be used as a waggler or even heavy-duty pole fishing pattern, as well as legering if youre not sold on the QM1s. Theyre made from very strong metal and weve tried to open one out with pliers, but they didnt budge! The QM1 hooks come in small, easy-to-store containers whereas the MWGs come in standard packets, both containing 10 hooks. Importantly, both patterns have large eyes so you can use thicker lines tied knotless-knot-style, which isnt possible with some other hooks. The MWG pattern comes in six sizes, from 10 to 20. The QM1 pattern comes in five sizes from 10 to 18.
These hooks are revolutionary, especially the QM1 pattern, so if you leger for carp, wed seriously recommend you give them an extended testing period.
