Drennan has always been at the forefront of tackle development, yet its spade-end hook range has remained largely unchanged for over a decade. That was until this year, however, when Drennan finally unveiled a completely revised range of no fewer than 14 different designs! There are seven barbless patterns and seven microbarbed patterns, each of which has been carefully considered to justify a place in anyone%u2019s tackle box. So what%u2019s so different about Drennan%u2019s new generation of hooks, we hear you shout? Well, they have been brought bang up to date for the modern match angler and the venues we now commonly fish. For example, when Drennan first entered the hook market commercial fisheries were very much in their infancy. How times have changed! The major feature of these hooks is that they are ALL forged %u2013 even the fine-wire patterns. What does forged mean? Well, in layman%u2019s terms, the forging process flattens the wire, which not only creates a stronger hook but also retains the hook%u2019s shape. In short, this means the hook is less likely to bend out of shape or spring open. The implications of this should see you convert more hooked fish into fish in the net! Each hook packet has detailed information on the back that is specific to the hook pattern and size. Interestingly, the wire gauge for each hook is also clearly labelled. After all, we tend to talk about lines in diameters now, so why not hooks? The patterns range from the fine-wire Silverfish Match up to the super-strong Margin Carp in the barbless series, and the delicate Fine Match to the take-no-prisoners Super Spade in the microbarbed series. All in all, this is an amazing collection that covers practically every application. Mf verdict: If you can%u2019t find the right hook from this comprehensive range then you%u2019re obviously not a match angler!
