Questions and Answers

Q

I do a lot of comercial pleasure fishing and often fish up against lillies catching card to betweeh 5 - 10+ pounds. What elestic would you suggest for this type of fishing where you need the power to stop the carp plowing into the liliies but still have the durability to play the fish once in open water. Many Thanks, Phil.

Hi Phil, I recommend a size 15 (blue) - It has the power to control when tight to snags but still allows the fish to be played.

Although I try to experiment with elastics I still keep coming back to the Hollo stuff from Preston for 90 per cent of my commercial fishing. The green 13H is perfect for general work and summer shallow approaches while the heavier 15H is my first choice for bigger fish and down the margins. Once things go colder, the red 11H comes into play and by the time you read this the lighter 9H grade will, hopefully, be doing the damage for winter F1s - I even use this stuff for roach and skimmers when I'm on a few. Matched to a pull bung system, I have every base covered. It's a strong, reliable, workhorse elastic that's won me more than a few quid over the years and has never let me down.
