Is this a good starter for a novice just getting in the sport

Hi Anthony,
Perfect for beginners. I've recently bought one for my nephew having spent hours untangling birds nests with the rod and reel set I got him the year before. Removing the reel from the equation makes life a lot easier all round.

Can you use this for Tenkara nymphing? I find my dedicated Tenkara rod a bit soft and often doesn't set the hook well.
