Wychwood's Agitator S1 300 Baitcasting Reels offer you top quality engineering and build quality at a realistically affordable price point. Available in both left hand wind and right hand wind versions, depending on your preference. Hi the star drag when at it's freest on my my 300 series it still very stiff it this normal like it would have to be a very big fish to take any line at all

Hi James,
They are designed for heavy duty baitcasting and would therefore expect the drag to be relatively hard. That being said, its difficult to say if yours is operating as expected. None of us here owns or has used one of these. It might be worth dropping the team at Wychwood a message to see if they can advise. Would this real cast 150 to 300 grams

They are supposed to accompany the matching Wychwood Agitator LR-C baitcasting rod range. As the large lure versions of those carries a max 300g casting weight then in theory you should be fine.

They're designed to pair with the Wychwood Agitator LR-C Baitcasting Lure Rods'and one of those is pretty close in casting weight so you should be fine.
