We have sold hundreds of these and very rarely to we ever see one back. They are a fantastic rod and for the money I don't think you will get any better, I think M Upton must have had a faulty one, he should have returned it back to where he got it for a deeper inspection of his rod.
I have an original rod about 5 or 6 years old, the new version now made in another factory is not a patch on the old one and has broken 3 times, in fact the first time I was sent a new tip. After the 3rd break I simply threw it away.
My husband just loves his early Christmas present and has christened it in the waters of the Thames but has as yet not caught a fish. (not the rods fault!) He tells me that the rod is two pronged so to speak, is well balanced and handles nicely but as he has only used the 13ft section for trotting, come next season there will be more information to pass on.
