What is the heaviest line I could use with this rod?

Hi Sam,
That's pretty much down to the reel your using but typically something around 15-20lb would give you the best in terms of casting performance.

given the light casting weight for this rod could i put about 250 metres of 20lb. line on my reel and not bother with a shock leader? just connect my line directly to my rig.
