Would this rod be suitable for light salt water fishing from a kayak?

Hi Lee,
It carries a 5 to 15g lure rating, which is pretty lightweight. If your planning on using bigger lures, or bait fishing we'd recommend something a bit more stepped up. We do have a dedicated range of Kayak rods.

I used this rod recently for bass fishing in the US. It was very compact and was fine at handling the fish I caught.
I did have an issue with the connections between parts of the rod which would come loose during fishing. A couple of times the rod completely came apart during casts. This could be managed by constantly checking the joints but that isn't really something I want to worry about when fishing! I had seen this issue come up in reviews on other sites but it seemed like an infrequent problem.
Overall I was reasonably happy with the rod as I couldn't find many other options which would fit in carry on. I would just recommend bringing some strong tape, or giving the rod a good test before using it on your travels in case you get one with similar issues.
