Description
Shakespeare’s Firebird range of combo outfits gives you a well-matched rod and reel, at a very reasonable price. Ideal if you are new or getting back into the sport and want to get yourself equipped with quality functional gear without shelling out a fortune. With two options available, an 8ft 10-40g medium weight setup, and a 9ft 20-80g heavy outfit for handling bigger lures spoons and spinnerbaits. Both rods feature modern style EVA handles and cushioned DPS reel seats as well as titanium oxide rings and guides. The 300 sized reel supplied comes pre-spooled ready to fish.

Can you put feathers on it and is it a sea fishing rod

Hi Harry,
Loading a rod like this up with feathers and the associated heavy weight wouldn't work. You need a beachcasting rod for this kind of work. There is a firebird beach combo from the same range that should do the job nicely. I've put a link in below.

Hi what size line does the reel come with please? Is it worth changing?

I believe last time we checked it was 10lb mono you get on the reel. Its normally ok but a lot of people don't trust the factory and re-spool it with their prefferred line of choice.'

The combo comes pre spooled, but if you wanted to add your own line, I wouldn't use anything heavier than a 10lb mono.
